Anticipation and excitement are palpable in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to inaugurate the world's highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River and flag off the Vande Bharat Express trains between Katra and Srinagar on Friday.
This landmark moment will mark the culmination of a decades-old dream—the completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link (USBRL), aimed at seamlessly connecting the Kashmir Valley to the rest of India.
Speaking to The Daily Guardian, local residents expressed joy and hope for a new era of growth, tourism, and opportunity in the region.
"Finally, our dream of seeing a train in Katra will be fulfilled," said a resident.
