Against this grim backdrop, Prajwala, meaning "eternal flame," emerged as a beacon of hope in 1996. Sparked by the eviction of women from a red-light district, this organization has become a lifeline for victims of sex slavery and a formidable force in combating human trafficking.

Since its inception, Prajwala has rescued 28,600 victims of sex trafficking, rehabilitated 26,900 survivors, and prevented 18,000 children from being forced into the sex trade. Beyond rescue and rehabilitation, the organization has championed awareness campaigns to highlight the horrors of trafficking, litigated for the conviction of traffickers, and advocated for victim-centric policies. Working in close collaboration with governments, police, and local administrations, Prajwala has helped thousands of survivors rebuild their lives after enduring unspeakable abuse.
