Ladakh lifts curbs on public gatherings after month-long restrictions

Authorities in Ladakh have lifted restrictions imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which barred the assembly of five or more persons, officials said on Tuesday.

Ladakh lifts curbs on public gatherings after month-long restrictions

The deputy commissioners of Leh and Kargil districts issued separate orders on Monday withdrawing the curbs that had been enforced to prevent potential breaches of peace and disturbance to public tranquility in the Union Territory.

The restrictions were first imposed across Ladakh on September 24 following violent clashes in Leh that left four people dead and several others injured.
