• Non-Aligned Movement (NAM): In the aftermath of World War II and its struggle for independence, India, under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru, advocated for the creation of a neutral bloc of nations, distinct from the Cold War rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union.

The Non-Aligned Movement, founded in 1961, sought to promote global peace and cooperation by encouraging nations to avoid aligning with any major power bloc.

• The Korean War (19501953): One of India's earliest roles as a peace mediator occurred during the Korean War. In 1953, India played a key role in brokering the ceasefire between North and South Korea. The Indian government, under Nehru, proposed a resolution to the United Nations calling for the establishment of a Neutral Nations Repatriation Commission.
