India writes 'new chapter in power generation': PM Modi in Rajasthan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 1,22,100 crore in Banswara, Rajasthan, calling it the beginning of a new chapter in India's energy and infrastructure journey.
At the centre of the announcements was the Rs 42,000-crore Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project by Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd (ASHVINI), featuring four indigenous 700 MW Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors designed by NPCIL. Once operational, it will be among India's largest nuclear power plants, part of the "fleet mode" programme of ten identical reactors nationwide.
The Prime Minister also unveiled green energy projects worth Rs 19,210 crore, including solar plants in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, and inaugurated three new transmission lines under the Renewable Energy Zone worth Rs 13,180 crore to disperse 15.5 GW of power. He launched feeder-level solarisation projects of 3,517 MW under PM-KUSUM to provide farmers with affordable irrigation.
