HHRC Slams Haryana Govt Over Delay in Old Age Homes

The Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) has expressed deep concern over the sluggish progress in the construction of old age homes across the state, warning that the government is failing in its duty to ensure dignity and care for its senior citizens.

In a recent review held in compliance with its earlier order dated January 31, the Commission noted that nearly two years after its inauguration, only one old age home, located in Rewari, is operational. The facility, however, paints a grim picture.

According to a status report submitted to the Commission on April 1, several districts, including Jhajjar, Palwal, Panipat, Rohtak, and Sirsa, have yet to even identify land for the construction of old age homes.
