Congress' 'one arrow, two targets' jibe at PM Modi over Bhagwat statement

A remark by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat suggesting that leaders should step aside at the age of 75 has triggered intense political speculation, particularly as Prime Minister Narendra Modi approaches that age this September.
Speaking at a book launch event in Nagpur in honour of late RSS ideologue Moropant Pingle, Bhagwat said, "When you turn 75, it means you should stop now and make way for others."
He recalled that Pingle had a humorous way of expressing the idea of graceful retirement, once saying that being honoured with a shawl after 75 was a signal to step aside and allow others to take over.
Bhagwat noted that although Pingle was deeply committed to national service, he also knew when it was time to withdraw.
Bhagwat's comment has been widely interpreted as a subtle message directed at Modi, who was born just six days after Bhagwat in September 1950.
