Carom seeds, or ajwain, are a humble yet powerful spice with immense therapeutic and culinary value. In the form of laddus, this wonder herb becomes not just medicine but a treat—making healing enjoyable and palatable. Be it for digestive health, postpartum recovery, or monsoon immunity, ajwain laddus are a timeless, tasty, and trustworthy recipe passed down through generations.
Ajwain laddus combine the goodness of ajwain with ghee, jaggery, flour, and dry fruits, resulting in a sweet that is both delicious and beneficial to health. These are especially popular among postpartum mothers, elderly people, and during winters and monsoon seasons.
BASIC AJWAIN LADDU RECIPE
Ingredients:
2 tbsp carom seeds (ajwain)
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup powdered jaggery
1/2 cup desi ghee
1/4 cup chopped dry fruits (almonds, cashews, raisins)
1 tsp dry ginger powder (optional)
1 tsp cardamom powder
Pinch of salt
Method:
Dry roast ajwain in a pan on low flame for 2-3 minutes until it releases aroma. Grind it into a coarse powder. Heat ghee in a thick-bottomed pan, add the wheat flour and roast on low flame until golden brown and aromatic.
Add the ground ajwain, dry fruits, cardamom, and dry ginger powder. Mix well and turn off the heat.
