Licensing facility 'graft-ridden' and falling apart

Clients of a dilapidated licensing centre are calling on the Tshwane metro and the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) to intervene as allegations of corruption at Waltloo Drivers Licensing and Testing Centre resurface.

According to clients, the facility is riddled with corruption.

The facility services areas including Mamelodi, Nellmapius, Silverton, Meyerspark, Equestria, The Willows, Val de Grace and Brummeria.

The state of the facility is also described as shocking.

A visit to the facility found the following:

• The ladies' restrooms were locked with chains and there were broken windows;

• The men's toilets were particularly grim, with blocked toilets and overflowing toilet bowls;

• Toilets have broken windows and doors;

• The centre also has overgrown grass and leaking pipes;

• Corruption is compounding these issues; and

• Signs are broken;
