KEEPER'S A LONG-TIME TARGET FOR HOWE
AARON Ramsdale has touched down on Tyneside ahead of his medical at Newcastle United's Benton training base.
The goalkeeper, who is expected to join on an initial loan from Southampton, will be Eddie Howe's second senior signing of the summer after Anthony Elanga joined the club earlier this month.
Ramsdale touched down in the North East at 3pm yesterday, moments after his soon-to-be teammates reeled from their third defeat of preseason - a 1-0 loss to K-League All Stars in Suwon, South Korea.
Ramsdale was greeted by Newcastle staff as he stepped off the private jet before being whisked out of the airport and driven to United’s Darsley Park base.
Medical tests will be undertaken, with an agreement already in place over a season-long loan - with Newcastle sitting on an option to buy the goalkeeper outright next summer.
