Rapist sentenced to 17 years as victim praised for bravery

A RAPIST who strangled his victim has been jailed after being found guilty of 10 offences.
-
Christopher Mason, 36, raped his victim and forced his hands around the woman's throat until she nearly lost consciousness, verbally abused her, damager her property and physically assaulted her.
The offences were reported to police and Mason was arrested and interviewed in connection with the report.
The next day, Mason, of Russell Avenue, South Shields, was charged with a string of offences.
