A POPULAR Newcastle city centre museum has been awarded almost £200,000 to develop a new exhibition space.
Bosses at the Discovery Museum, which is located in the former Victorian headquarters of the Cooperative Wholesale Society in Blandford Square, have deemed the current space unsuitable for the scale of exhibitions they hope to provide.
The £193,000 investment from the National Lottery Heritage Fund will be used to develop a "flexible" space with the first exhibition, Things That Go, taking place in summer 2026.
