PUPIL PASSED AWAY FOLLOWING A 'MEDICAL EMERGENCY'
THERE has been a wave of support for the family of a school pupil who died following a “medical emergency” at a school in South Tyneside.
A student at St Wilfrid's RC College in South Shields passed away following the incident at the school yesterday morning.
Police and paramedics, as well as the Great North Air Ambulance, rushed to the site just after 9.15am.
There were four ambulance vehicles at the scene as well as a police van and the air ambulance.
The secondary school, on Temple Park Road, initially said that there had been a “medical emergency on site”. They later confirmed that a student had sadly died.
Headteacher Catherine Lennox said yesterday: “As you may already be aware, we have had a medical episode in school this morning.
“Sadly the student involved has passed away.
