City's culture helped me rise to UK finalist

A BARBER from Newcastle is celebrating being a finalist in the national hairdressing awards.

Baco Muhammad, 30, of the TRIMMEN salon in Fenham, is proud to be recognised by the prestigious UK Hair and Beauty Awards.

He has always been interested in cutting and styling hair.

Growing up, he owned his own pair of clippers and cut the hair of family and friends.

In 2017 his friend Sammy noticed his passion and helped Baco get into an academy, where he could them learn the trade to a professional standard.

On his journey to where he is today, Baco said: “For the last eight years, I've worked very hard, spent a lot of time practising and kept pushing myself to get better.

“That's how I built my way into the business and turned something I loved into my career.”
