THE LITERARY THEME WAS A REAL TREAT FOR THE EYES

- By BARBARA HODGSON

Cathedral's light show was the best one so far

The Storytellers by Luxmuralis at Durham Cathedral

I’M a Luxmuralis fan, so when I turn up for the artists’ new show inside Durham Cathedral, I am fully expecting to find myself again transfixed by all-enveloping colours and soaring music.

I saw their debut light and sound show there in 2022, when spectacular projections and atmospheric sounds explored the theme of Life.

Then there came a new show in 2023, with the theme of Science, followed by last year’s Space which saw Luxmuralis - made up of artistic director Peter Walker and composer David Harper - conjure up a whirling universe of sci-fi magic.

‘And now, after waiting in the dark of the cathedral for the start of this year's after-dark treat, I find that new show The Storytellers made even more of an impact than I expected.

In fact, I think this might have been the best one yet.
