Candidates running for vacant council seat announced

A NUMBER of parties have announced candidates for North Tyneside's Longbenton and Benton by-election.
Labour, Reform, the Lib Dems and the Greens have all announced their representatives for a North Tyneside council seat in the Longbenton and Benton ward.
The seat was left vacant following the narrow election victory of Karen Clark to the position of North Tyneside Mayor in May. The by-election will be held on Wednesday, July 2, with the official deadline for registering candidates today.
It is understood the Conservatives will also be standing a candidate, though have yet to officially announce.
