Keeping Calum at club a huge bonus

THE fact that Calum McIntyre is staying put at Chester FC is a massive plus for the club.

Keeping Calum at club a huge bonus

By common consensus his post-match interview after defeat against Scunthorpe United in the National League North play-off final sounded like a leaving speech. Or it certainly had the hint of one.

But emotions were running high after such a momentous occasion and you can forgive a manager feeling physically and mentally exhausted after a full season plus a two-week spell of massive highs and lows.

The club's first ever play-off win - against Buxton in the eliminator - will have seemed so special for McIntyre, who is a Chester fan to his core.

He took a long time to get over the agony of losing to Brackley Town two years previously in the play-off semi-final.

At home too, when he wanted so much to give back to the club's loyal supporters.
