Dominic took on marathon run in mum's memory
The Chester Chronicle
|May 29, 2025
CHESTER Zoo senior executive put in a marathon effort to conquer the 2025 London Marathon while raising funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
-
Dominic Strange, 56, commercial director at Chester Zoo, joined around 760 other BHF runners who took to the streets of London to fund the charity's lifesaving research.
Dominic ran the 26.2 mile course in memory of his mum Sue, 76, who sadly died in February 2024 from undiagnosed aortic valve disease.
Dominic said: "Mum was fit for her age and you wouldn't have known anything was wrong. She played an active part in our lives - days out, looking after her grandchildren and shopping.
"One night she started having breathing problems and before we knew it she was gone, just a week before her 77th birthday.
"That was a big shock to the system and inspired me to take action to transform myself.
