With just a day to the commencement of the much-anticipated Gateway Games 2025, tension flared outside the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta as dozens of caterers, mostly women, staged a peaceful protest over their alleged exclusion from catering contracts for the event.
The caterers, under the aegis of the National Caterers Association of Nigeria, accused the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of sidelining them after months of engagement and assurances.
