Top 7 firms' Mcap surges by Rs 71,301 cr; Airtel leads

The combined market valuation of seven of the top10 most valued companies surged by Rs 71,301.34 crore in the holiday-shortened last week, with Bharti Airtel leading the gains.

The BSE benchmark witnessed a remarkable rally, climbing 374.04 points or 0.50 percent, setting new records.
Markets remained closed on Friday for Mahashivratri. On Thursday, the 30-share BSE Sensex achieved a new closing peak of 74,119.39, while the Nifty also ended at a fresh closing high of 22,493.55.
In an effort to test their readiness to handle major disruptions or failures at the primary site, leading stock exchanges BSE and NSE conducted a special trading session in the equity and equity derivative segments on Saturday, March 2.
