The Supreme Court in the case Meena A Jagtap Versus Bar Council Of India, BCI was hearing the petition filed seeking 33% reservation for women lawyers in Gujarat's bar bodies.

The court called out the petitioner, a lady advocate, for engaging a male advocate to argue the case.
The bench comprising of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan was hearing the present matter.
The bench in the case expressed disappointment over the petitioner's engaging of a male advocate, when her plea filed was for reservation for women lawyers. The counsel appearing for the petitioner, i.e., a male advocate, apprised the court that the petitioner is a lady advocate practicing before courts in Gujarat.
