SUPREME COURT ASKS PETITIONER TO APPROACH ELECTION COMMISSION: IN PLEA TO APPLY POSH ACT TO POLITICAL PARTIES

The Supreme Court in the case Yogamaya Mg Versus Union Of India observed and has disposed of a Public Interest Litigation, PIL filed seeking the application of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace, the Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal Act, 2013, POSH Act to political parties by asking the petitioner to first approach the Election Commission of India.

The bench comprising of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Manmohan was hearing the present matter.

The bench in the case passed the order wherein the Public Interest Litigation, PIL is filed by Supreme Court lawyer Yogamaya M G.

The counsel, Senior Advocate Shobha Gupta appearing for the petitioner submitted before the court that the definition clause of the Act covered all aggrieved women and workplaces.
