Study forecasts 600 kt solar waste in India by 2030

A recent study conducted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in collaboration with the independent think tank Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) has shed light on a concerning issue: India's burgeoning solar waste problem.

According to the study, India could be facing a staggering 600 kilotonnes of solar waste by the year 2030, equivalent to filling up 720 Olympic-size swimming pools.
The study predicts that around 67% of this waste will originate from five states: Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
