Special Investigation Teams formed for Assam IED scare: DGP

Assam’s Special Director General of Police (DGP), Harmeet Singh, announced on Sunday that special investigation teams have been formed following the discovery of several suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED)-like objects across the state on August 15.

On Independence Day, August 15, the Assam Police conducted searches in multiple locations after “suspicious articles” were found in several cities and towns, including Guwahati.
“Some bomb-like substances were discovered. Special investigation teams have been formed, headed by the Additional SP. Our primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of the state’s people. We held a review meeting and discussed the way forward. Anyone who tries to harm the people of Assam will not be spared,” stated Harmeet Singh to reporters.
