Skechers plans robust growth in India, to boost mfg

Skechers, the American footwear giant, has identified India as one of its fastest-growing markets in the past three years, prompting a significant increase in the company’s investments in the country.

This strategic move aligns with the surging demand for branded footwear and clothing within India’s expanding middle class.

The company is actively seeking to bolster its manufacturing capacity in India, with a focus on both meeting domestic supply needs and positioning for future global exports, according to top management statements made on Monday. Skechers recently inaugurated its inaugural warehouse and distribution center at Lodha Industrial and Logistics Park, Palava, near Mumbai, spanning an impressive 6.5 lakh square feet. This facility is poised to manufacture apparel and footwear.
