SEMICONDUCTOR MISSION NOT JUST ABOUT MEETING DOMESTIC REQS: EAM

In the technology and manufacturing worlds, globalisation is a reality that cannot be reversed, EAM S. Jaishankar added
-

On Sunday, S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, said it will not be surprising if critical and emerging technologies (CETs) were to emerge as one of the most significant measures of power. He also said that CET-related concerns are influenced by how market dominance and production dominance are used in other sectors. Jaishankar said virtually at the event “Semicon India 2023” that questions of who invents and manufactures, market shares, resources, skills, and talent pool in relation to CET are becoming more and more important in the global arena. The minister added that a more independent India will produce more semiconductors on its own.
“It (CET) is an intrinsic element of the knowledge economy, which is rapidly developing. He remarked in his speech on the subject of “India’s role in emerging and critical technologies” that “how deeply it embeds technologies in a manner that profoundly influences all aspects of our lives” is actually one of its key qualities. Critical and emerging technologies (CET) should emerge as one of the most essential indicators of power, he claimed, if the basic nature of our economic and social activities changes as a result. According to Jaishankar, the CET is a topic of discussion with numerous strategic partners that is becoming more and more essential.
