Rising stroke cases among young Indians need for AI-enabled screening

As India observed World Stroke Day, medical experts warned of a concerning rise in stroke cases among younger adults, noting that the disease was no longer limited to the elderly.

At the World Stroke Day forum hosted by Mahajan Imaging & Labs, specialists emphasized a shift from reactive treatment to proactive stroke prevention through timely health checks, lifestyle changes, and greater public awareness.

India's stroke crisis had deepened, with findings published in the International Journal of Strokerevealing that the country recorded nearly 1.5 million cases each year. Alarmingly, only one in four Indians had access to a stroke-ready hospital, exposing a major gap in emergency preparedness. Experts noted that strokes were increasingly affecting people in their thirties and forties, driven by stress, hypertension, sedentary lifestyles, and chronic exposure to air pollution.
