The airline cancelled 26 flights from various cities in Pakistan. PIA has paid PKR220 million to PSO for fuel supply

PIA CANCELS FLIGHTS OVER NON-PAYMENT OF DUES TO FUEL SUPPLIER

Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flights have been severely affected as Pakistan State Oil (PSO) stopped fuel supply to the national carrier over non-payment of dues to the company, Geo News reported on Monday.

As tensions between Pakistan International Airline (PIA) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) escalate, the skies over Pakistan bear witness to the consequences of this bitter dispute. Geo News has reported that PIA’s flight operations have taken a significant hit as PSO halted fuel supplies due to unpaid dues. This development has led to a series of flight cancellations and delays that are causing upheaval for passengers and the airline alike.

On this tumultuous day, PIA was forced to cancel 26 flights departing from major cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Bahawalpur, Multan, Gwadar, and more across Pakistan. Geo News reached out to a PIA spokesperson, who confirmed that alternative flight arrangements were made for the affected passengers. However, the disruption has left many travelers in limbo, further exacerbating the already challenging state of the airline industry amid the ongoing global pandemic.

In an attempt to mitigate the crisis, PIA has devised a fuel adjustment plan, allowing only three flights to take off from Karachi. This desperate measure is indicative of the urgency and severity of the situation at hand.
