Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has issued a strong appeal for the urgent approval of the Kalasa-Banduri drinking water project, a long-awaited initiative deemed crucial for addressing the water scarcity faced by North Karnataka.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Siddaramaiah emphasized the project's significance, noting that it is essential for the welfare and well-being of the people in the region. He highlighted the pressing need for interstate cooperation to resolve the water crisis, stressing that timely action would prioritize the needs of the public.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Siddaramaiah stated, "I have written to Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, urging swift approval of the Kalasa-Banduri project, which is essential for the welfare of the people of North Karnataka. Interstate cooperation is crucial to addressing the region's water needs. Let's prioritize the needs of our people." The chief minister's letter underlined that the KalasaBanduri project is not only a matter of necessity but also a long-standing issue that has yet to be resolved due to bureaucratic and legal hurdles.
