INDIA'S WHEAT OUTPUT REVISED DOWN TO RECORD 110.55 M TONNES

In a recent development, the Indian government has revised its wheat production figures for the 2022-23 crop year, which ended in June, citing unseasonal rains during the harvesting period as a contributing factor to a decrease in the estimated production. According to data released by the Ministry of Agriculture on October 18, the wheat production for the 2022-23 crop year has been revised downward by 2.19 million tonnes, resulting in a final estimate of 110.55 million tonnes. This figure marks a new record high for wheat production in the country.

The 2022-23 wheat production estimate is 2.19 million tonnes lower than the third estimate, which initially projected a production of 112.74 million tonnes for the same crop year. These periodic estimates are released by the ministry at different stages of the harvesting process, with the final estimate providing the most accurate picture of crop production.
