Indian inflation seen easing to 5.50% in Sept on softening food price rises: Poll

In the recent month, Indian retail inflation is expected to have eased to 5.50 per cent, falling within the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) tolerance band.

This decline can be attributed to moderating food price increases and government subsidies that have counteracted the surge in crude oil costs, as per a Reuters poll. The RBI, in its monetary policy review on October 6, kept the policy unchanged for the fourth consecutive meeting and signaled that interest rates would remain elevated until inflation approaches 4%, the midpoint of the central bank’s target range of 2-6 per cent.
