CM Soren pushes digital tools, training to empower farmers

Chief Minister Hemant Soren today chaired the fourth board meeting of Sidho-Kanho Agriculture and Forest Produce State Cooperative Federation Limited (Siddhcofed) at the state assembly, unveiling plans to modernize farming through digital platforms, training initiatives, and market support.

The discussion focused on boosting farmers' income, promoting local products, and strengthening training and marketing systems across the state.Soren emphasised that modernising agriculture through technology, high-quality seeds, improved irrigation and market access remains a top government priority. He underlined the importance of timely payment at fair prices to boost farmers' morale and ensure economic self-reliance. Highlighting the role of water resources in rural livelihoods, he suggested assigning maintenance of check dams and local water structures to farmers’ groups or water committees to encourage local ownership and accountability.
