Nartatez orders crackdown on illegal firecracker factories

Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), ordered police units to intensify the operations against illegal and unauthorized fireworks manufacturing facilities following the fatal explosion at a factory in Norzagaray, Bulacan that claimed two lives on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
This, as he assured that investigation into the explosion is ongoing as the PNP works closely with the Bureau of Fire Protection and local officials of Bulacan to review the factory's compliance with safety and permit requirements.
