Award-winning filmmaker Brillante Mendoza has sounded the alarm over Senate Bill 2805, calling it “deeply troubling’ in an open letter posted on social media.
The bill, sponsored by actor-turned-senator Robin Padilla, seeks to expand the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board's (MTRCB) mandate to include content from online streaming platforms.
Mendoza questioned the bill’s scope, saying it attempts to control people's private viewing choices.
He maintained regulating content is not the solution to safeguarding young minds.
"Controlling access to content is not the answer. That responsibility lies with parents in raising their children."
