Team Reaney claim win at Shackerstone
Tamworth Herald
|June 26, 2025
SUNDAY saw Shackerstone AC stage its annual Teams of 4 competition on various sections of the Ashby Canal, this year attracting ten teams.
-
Four sections of canal were used (Section A - Hags Lane, Section BJockey to Pops, Section C - Barton Road and Section D - The Monthills) and anglers received a point for winning their section downwards, the team with the lowest points being crowned winners and if teams were tied on points, total team weight would decide.
Sadly, the fishing was very poor for this time of year, although A section produced the top three highest weights while some anglers sat biteless.
The individual winner on peg A4 was Andy Pettit (Team Reaney) who fed worm and maggot to the back of a bush and managed 4 decent skimmers up to the 1lb mark to finish with 3.5lbs and 1 point. Second on peg A5 was Ian Stone (Ibstock) who like the winner fed to the far shelf with maggot and pinkie and also caught 4 skimmers but smaller to end with 1lb 13ozs and 2 points.
