Weybridge aim for promotion as Guildford clash looms
Surrey Advertiser

NEW Weybridge Cricket Club captain Joey Field is confident that his side can open up a gap at the top of the Division One table in the Surrey Championship this weekend.
The New Zealander, who arrived at Princes Road six weeks ago, has seen the club win four of their opening five matches in the league so far, after Saturday's game at Camberley was abandoned.
But Guildford - who were relegated alongside Weybridge last term and have the same number of points this season - are expected to provide Field and his team with their toughest test to date this Saturday.
However, former New Zealand Under-19 international Field, 24, who plays professionally for Central Districts, feels that the eight-wicket success over Guildford in the second round of the Edwards Cup last month and the fact that opening bowler Luke Griffiths is back from injury will hold them in good stead when the top two go head-to-head.
Field said: “We played them in a T20 and beat them pretty well, so we can take lots of confidence from that.
“We have also got big Luke Griffiths coming back from injury this week, so that is a pretty handy pick in terms of opening the bowling and batting five. We definitely back ourselves with both skills, and I do feel that they fear our bowling line up for sure.
