Play centre announces closure

STAFF at a popular play centre in Hersham have been left devastated after learning they would have to close.

Piglets play centre, in Burhill Road, will shut in August. Its landlord, Walton Charity, has announced plans to turn the site into a food bank and community hub, to meet a growing demand.

The move is in the “best interests” of the community, it said.

For years, parents have taken children to Piglets to play, with an inside soft play, as well as interacting with farmyard animals.

Stephanie Dare told the Advertiser: "My family have spent many happy afternoons at Piglets.

"My daughter first met Santa at their Christmas Tea Party. [It is] such a great space for little ones to roam whilst us grown ups chat over coffee and cake."

There is an online petition to keep the centre open, set up by a customer.
