PARENTS OF GIRL WHO DIED IN HOSPITAL WANT TO HELP OTHER CHILDREN
Isla Hoskins with her parents CHLOE JOSLIN
THE parents of a Surrey girl who died in hospital at only five years old are fundraising to give back to those who cared for her.
Isla Hoskins, from Chertsey, was in and out of Great Ormond Street for most of her life receiving treatment for a rare immunodeficiency.
Her time at the hospital was very tough and included transplants, more than 30 episodes of sepsis and being referred to the palliative care team multiple times.
Throughout her life she spent more than a year in hospital, during which time she was primarily cared for in the Robin Ward.
Her mother Chloe Joslin said: "She has so many honorary aunties in all of the girls and the men that work within the bone marrow transplant unit. She was so loved by all of them."
Despite being critically ill, Isla made a remarkable recovery several times.
Chloe said: "It was mind-boggling to be honest. Every single thing that she went through, she always bounced back and, as her parents, we were obviously so unbelievably proud."
However, things turned at the start of the year.
