Kidnapper jailed after imprisoning sex workers and assaulting police

A man who kidnapped two sex workers and assaulted a police officer has been locked up for four and a half years.

Gareth Henry was arrested by police at his caravan.

Gareth Henry, 33, met both women-one an escort and one a masseuse - on a website where they promoted their business.

On February 6 this year he drove the first victim to a caravan parked outside his mum's home, where he lived, and they took cocaine and had sex.

When she ordered a taxi afterwards, Henry, of Patrick Road, Sunderland, refused to return her home or let her out of the caravan, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

The woman texted her Uber driver, who then called the police.

Officers arrived at the scene soon after but could not open the door of the caravan.

Her Honour Judge Amanda Rippon said: "She described being terrified she would not get out of the caravan alive.
