Jobs fears as manufacturing plant announces closure plans

Around 100 jobs are under threat at Liebherr Sunderland Works Ltd after the company's chiefs told employees about proposed plans for closure of the Wearside site.
The manufacturing plant has built maritime cranes at its manufacturing plant on Ayres Quay on the banks of the Wear since it was opened in 1989.
The company is part of the Maritime Cranes product segment within the Liebherr Group, with the Wearside plant specialising in the production of small-sized mobile harbour cranes and ship cranes.
After being contacted by the Echo a spokesperson from the company’s head office in Europe said:
