Il Etait Temps has Ascot prize at his mercy

January 16, 2026

It is very difficult to envisage Il Etait Temps being beaten in the BetMGM Clarence House Chase at Ascot tomorrow.

Willie Mullins loves sending his top two-milers from Ireland for the Grade One and the brilliant Un De Sceaux won three in a row for him, albeit one took place at Cheltenham.

His last victory actually came courtesy of that magnificent horse back in 2018, and in recent years he has relied on Energumene, although the best he could manage was finishing second in an epic to Shishkin in 2022 and he also chased home Jonbon last year.
