Alcohol licence bid is refused for store

A bid to allow a planned convenience store to sell alcohol until 11pm has been refused by councillors after the applicant failed to attend a key licensing hearing.

The store, at 2 Eden Terrace, Sunderland.
Sunderland City Council's licensing subcommittee met on Thursday to discuss the application for 2 Eden Terrace, a property previously used as food store Haat Bazar Ltd. Applicant Lojan Ramesh wanted a planned new convenience store at the site to be able to sell booze between 8am and 11pm.
