IF YOU'VE had a look at the preowned car market today, especially involving performance cars from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, then you would know that accountants have been lying to us all this time because not all cars are depreciating assets.

In fact, the car of the 80s and 90s - the Opel Kadett 16v GSI “Superboss” is now worth 10 times its original value, after going under the hammer for an attractive R555 000 at a Creative Rides auction.

Now why would anyone want to pay half a million rand for a car with cloth seats and a rubbery dashboard and steering wheel. It’s a crap ride, with no window winders in the back. There’s no aircon or electric windows in the front either.
