WOMAN RAPED BY PARTNER WAITS YEARS FOR JUSTICE

RAPED by the father of her child in her own home, a woman felt trapped by the man that stole her trust.

But now, after seeing her former partner locked up, the victim says she can finally get on with her life following a long wait for justice.

Lewis Spence was jailed for four and a half years at Newcastle Crown Court earlier this month after pleading guilty to rape and sexual assault.

His ex-partner bravely reported him to police three years ago after he attacked her on more than one occasion in the home they shared.

And now as the mum-of-one shared her relief at finally being able to move on from the abusive relationship, she has told the Sunday Sun of the ongoing impact Spence's actions have had on her life.

The 25-year-old said: “It’s horrible. Not only has it totally affected my ability to trust people, it’s affected my trust in my own judgement. I thought he was a good person which is why I wanted a family with him.
