Shout-out for North West on world stage

PRIME Minister Sir Keir Starmer has used the COP conference in Brazil to announce new investment deals for clean power in the UK, including one in the North West.

The Prime Minister pitched the UK as a world leader on climate action at the UN Cop30 summit in Belem, Brazil, using a speech to make the economic case for green energy. He also announced a scheme in Carrington, near Manchester, for one of the UK’s largest battery sites, with Statera Energy confirming a final investment decision on a 680MW storage system. Schemes in Norfolk and Belfast are also being announced.

Sir Keir said: "It’s full speed ahead in our mission to bring about the clean power revolution - delivering energy security, getting bills down for good and generating growth in communities across the UK.
