A poisonous friendship between a cleaner and a millionaire is at the heart of thriller The Guest. MARION MCMULLEN finds out more from stars Gabrielle Creevy and Eve Myles

A toxic and dangerous game of cat and mouse

EVE Myles has faced Daleks and battled aliens as Gwen Cooper in Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, but The Guest sees her in a very different role.

She plays the wealthy and mysterious Fran Sharp who befriends a cleaner called Ria after they bump into each other in an upmarket grocery shop.

"Fran is about opulence, wealth and confidence, she lives a life like none of us would ever see and there's a mystery behind this woman," says Eve. "She's someone that I've very rarely got to play before, and it's been great fun tapping into her character. When you meet her at the beginning and then start to scratch the surface, she becomes a very different person."

Fellow Welsh actress Gabrielle Creevy plays cleaner Ria, who is struggling with financial issues, and says: "The Guest is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about two women who share a very toxic relationship. It's full of surprises, with plenty of twists and jump scares that make it a lot of fun."

She describes Ria as " a hardworking and a lovely person, but despite her ambitions, she's unable to achieve them due to her circumstances".

She adds: "Meeting Fran feels like the golden ticket for her - everything seems bright, like the sun is shining down on her, but as the story unfolds, things take a darker turn."

The BBC four-parter was filmed in Wales with locations ranging from Cardiff and the Gower's famous Rhossili Bay. Grade II listed building Whitson Court at Goldcliff, Newport, doubled as Fran’s stunning stately home Maybury Court.
