WHAT IS WOLFF-PARKINSON-WHITE SYNDROME?

Professor Sanjay Sharma, consultant cardiologist for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), who is based at St George's Hospitals NHS Trust, London, says:

"Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome is due to an extra electrical connection between the atria (top chambers of the heart) and the ventricles (bottom chambers of the heart). The condition is congenital, meaning a person is born with it, and is present in around one in 500 people.
