Lifeboat crew hurt in sea rescue effort 2 bodies found, 1 person still missing

TWO lifeboat crew were injured in 12ft waves during desperate attempts to save three people swept out to sea.

Two bodies have been recovered after extensive efforts by the RNLI, coastguard and emergency services.

But HM Coastguard announced the search for the remaining person had been stood down yesterday.

It has emerged that during terrible conditions, RNLI crew were left with cuts and bruises after being swept off their feet by waves at Withernsea, off the East Yorkshire coast.

Paul Whitehead, 60, owner of Castle Cafe on the promenade, said a teenage girl had been watching the sea from steps on Friday afternoon when she was swept away.
