EDDIE HOWE shielded £55million star Anthony Elanga from any blame for Newcastle's loss at Brighton.

- BY LEE RYDER

EDDIE HOWE got ruthless with some of his Newcastle stars at the Amex Stadium as he hauled off £230million worth of talent.

But Howe admitted that Elanga was part of a group of players who should be bringing more attacking intent to the pitch.

When asked about Elanga, Howe said: “We need more from everybody. It is never about one player.

“Anthony is going to be a great player for this football club, | have no doubt about that.

“Some players need a little bit more time and extra support, something to happen positively to kick off.

“But he has all the attributes to do really well here. So | have no issues or worries about him.”

Meanwhile, Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler (above) said: “I never thought we would lose it, so I have the biggest belief in my team.

“We showed resilience, character and personality.

“We kept the structure quite well and I'm really pleased. | thought we had a good variation, a good flexibility. | was pleased.”
