VICTIM OF RIOT TELLS OF FEARS AT ATTACK

AN asylum seeker said he feared he would die as rioters targeted his hotel with petrol bombs, fireworks and bricks.

Faustin Karake was among 180 residents inside the Holiday Inn Express in Tamworth when a mob confronted police and threw missiles on August 4 last year.

More than 200 people were later arrested in connection with the trouble which flared in the town and in Stoke-on-Trent in the wake of the murders of three little girls in Southport, Merseyside, days earlier.

Faustin, known as Eric to friends, told ITV News West Country he was worried for his life.

Now living in Oxford, he said: “Inside the hotel, we've got some people that look after us. So they told us before what was happening.
